About the movie

Ishqiya is a story of romance between individuals caught in a web of crime, suspense, passion, and deceit. Set in a rural landscape, Ishqiya explores basic human emotions as influenced by desire, greed and revenge. The music of the film has a touch of rustic class to it. Its another landmark album by Vishal Bharadwaj and Gulzar. ‘Ishqiya’ turns out to be a short and sweet album with an eye on being a quality outing.

The duo has charmed music lovers with their versatility by producing different styles and genres in movies like Kurbaan, Fashion and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

Well, they do deliver along with lyricist Anvita Dutt Guptan, as apparent in the very first track ‘Alisha’ where Salim Merchant comes forward as a singer to join Anushka Manchanda behind the microphone. There is a definite Salim-Sulaiman stamp on the entire composition and the Western treatment only makes it livelier.
